Methodology and scope of the research

We consulted a wide range of stakeholders, including Mayfield Solutions own consultants and clients, to identify a representative sample of email marketing systems, and to baseline key areas of email marketing software functionality.

Once the shortlist and methodology were agreed, the researchers organised trial accounts where possible, or failing that arranged software demos, with each of the vendors. After identifying the 15 systems, we contacted each vendor and, where possible, organised access to a trial account. Where this was not possible, our researchers scheduled a demonstration of the software to review functionality of each solution.
 
Mayfield Solutions has no commercial agreement with any software vendor relating to its inclusion in this report or the results of our analysis. As such, this fully independent review of email marketing software is the first of its kind.
